Swimming to save Cinque Terre... Nuota con Noi per le 5 Terre


L'Associazione Diversamente Sportivi, in collaborazione con il Centro Sportivo Italiano, con la Delegazione F.I.N. della Spezia, con la Unione Italiana Sport per Tutti e con NAL, ha organizzato un circuito di nuoto ligure in acque libere denominato "Aiutiamo le 5 Terre", composto da sette nuotate in mare lungo la costa di alcune famose località turistiche facenti parte delle Aree Protette dei Parchi del levante ligure.
La finalità del circuito, oltre alla promozione del nuoto in mare e i nobili intenti dello sport in genere, è quella di raccogliere fondi da devolvere alle popolazioni delle 5Terre colpite dal tragico evento alluvionale dello scorso 25 ottobre 2011.
Il circuito è rivolto a tutti gli atleti, agonisti e master, ambo i sessi, di qualsiasi età, purchè in possesso di regolare visita agonistico sportiva e tesseramento C.S.I. valevole per l'anno 2012.

The last review on TripAdvisor..from Australia

Hotel Firenze was a five minute walk from the railway station which was such a bonus being that we were there to walk the Cinque Terra. The hotel ambience was stunning and the staff were very friendly and ever so professional. We were thrilled on entering our room - it was the best we had experience during our 9 week trip. I did request a room with a balcony and was told that other rooms in the hotel had renovated larger bathrooms but I still decided on the balcony - not that the view was great as during the day we were exposed to the train tracks but at night it was fantastic to sit outside and view the scenery of lit up houses on the hills at the back of La Spezia. The breakfast room at the top was gorgeous and the breakfast supplied was magnificent - everything one could want. There was also a little bar room for those who returned at the end of the day for a quiet drink and nibble. We could not fault this hotel and having travelled extensively within Australia for a wine company, this hotel would compare to many in Australia. I did hear an Australian couple complaining about the size of the lift but I think everyone who has travelled overseas knows the lifts are small and just accept what is available. Maria, the owner, a very charming lady, does everything within her power to ensure her guests are happy. She certainly sets a very high standard for the hotel and her staff. I did have a problem with the computer and internet but she offered me her own personal laptop - how generous!! We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights and on our departure to Milan at 4.00 a.m. we were presented with a breakfast parcel to take with us by Mauro. It contained everything we could possibly have eaten in the breakfast room.
What else can I say other than pay a visit to this hotel as you will absolutely love it - we did!!
My only disappointment was posting this review six months late - I had trouble with my password for Tripadvisor

I am home now and have finally slept a little. Here are the two images that I worked on of the Cinque Terre. So happy you liked them.


I am a professional photographer that travels all over the world and love special places, cities and special hotels too. I really enjoyed your hotel and the staff. I checked thoroughly

all around La Spezia before booking your hotel and was so happy it was just as I had hoped for!! The room was even better than I had expected also....and the bathroom was huge!!


Of course, being 100 feet from the train station was incredible. Going back and forth to the Cinque Terre was incredibly easy! I will for sure tell anyone that asks me where to stay while visiting the Cinque Terre to use your hotel!!

Thank you Andrea!!! My girlfriend and I had the best time at your hotel!!

Walking through the Vineyard in Manarola









During your stay in La Spezia, you can catch a train at the station just a few steps from our hotel and go off in Manarola, where you can discover this amazing village and its secrets......................

Once you find yourself in Manarola, make sure you take the time to do the Manarola Vineyard Walk – it’ll be an experience to remember. Just make your way to the top of the town where the church is located and find the wooden railing that is just 20 yards or so below the church. This is the starting point for a lovely vineyard walk around the top side of town.

You’ll experience the beauty of gorgeous lemon trees and wild red Valerian (a relative of the herb we use to make the drug Valium!). And don’t forget to take the time to smell the heavenly scent of rosemary as you make your way along the path.

Take notice of the marvelous and fine workmanship of the region’s famous dry stone walls that shore up the beautifully crafted vineyards found all over.

At this point, notice the road becomes an S-shape. This is where a river once ran through the town. Today, that old and ancient riverbed has been covered up and made into a road. But long ago, it provided a place to gather water, wash clothes and gossip with the neighbors.

The Manarola Vineyard trail ends at a T-intersection. Taking a right, it will lead you to the trail that ends up in another of the Cinque Terre’s villages, Corniglia. If you decide to turn left at the T, you will start your descent back into the main part of Manarola.

If you choose to go back to town, along the way you have an opportunity to make a small detour and visit the local cemetery. Why, you ask? Because of the view! It’s the best view of the sea and you’ll be glad you did. May we all rest in peace in such a beautiful area! The cemetery is located on Punto Bonfiglio where you’ll come across a park and a bar to rest your feet and take a little snack break.

This spumante wine has a fine and persistent perlage. The grapes are exclusively picked in the Cinque Terre area.

Its fruity aroma and its dryness and delicate taste make it very enjoyable as an aperitif and it pairs well with all the meal.

It is suggested to be served ata temperature of 6-8 °C (42°-47°F).

Breakfast in the rooftop.....a good way to start your day..





Enjoy your breakfast with a big selection of fresh brioches, muffins, cereals, yougurt, cakes, fresh frutis, fruit juices.


Taste our daily baked bread selection with our jams and different kind of italian cold cuts.
Our continental breakfast included every moorning boiled or screamble eggs served with becon and a large selection of cheese and cold cuts.
Moreover we pay attention to all our
clients request and we have included in our buffet a selection of diet and gluten free products such as bread, cookies, cereals, jam and soya milk.

Varietals Vermentino 100%.

Vineyards: they stand within the municipality of Fosdinovo at an altitude between 100 and 350 meters above sea level. The soil of the main vineyard is sandy-loamy and skeletal; the soil of the other plots, of a total extension of 1 hectare, is sandy.

Vineyard planting: the trellising system is Guyot and the vineyard density is 8,400 vines per hectare.

Harvest: by hand, the grapes are picked, according to the ripening in each different plot, during the last week of September and the first two weeks of October.

Vinification: “soft” transportation systems are used for the grapes, short cold maceration, fermentation at a low temperature, the grapes from each plot are fermented separately, the wine matures on the lees for six months.

Bottling: in March. The wines are finished in the bottle for two/three months before being released on the market.

Yield per hectare: 7 tons of grapes

Bottles produced/year: 20.000 / 25.000 depending on the vintage.
